Passing Strange
The concept arises from the iconic phrase of the Broadway musical “Passing Strange”; the space in this amplification is based on this idea and responds to the needs of the owner who wished to have a family space, multifunctional and polyvalent for music, creativity and relaxation … a Sanctuary for Rock.
Located on a lot that is 7 meters wide, bordering the current house and respecting the existing vegetation, a great space in the center as a walkway; columns that form the structure recreate a station and at the northern end is a large red box that simulates a railroad car.
This multifunctional space, full of natural light and the fresh air of prevailing winds, was conceived as a great terrace with the Eastern and western faces with sliding glass doors allow a direct relationship between the interior and the exterior, as well as a continuous flow of space along 42 meters of land.
The red box that forms the “car” is also formed of 10 accordion doors that increase the space to shelter the different activities with family and friends.
Premios: 2016 1st Place Studios XIV Bienal de Arquitectura Mexicana / 2015 Gold Medal XI Bienal de Arquitectura Yucateca
